Last week, we exhibited at the Museums and Heritage Show in Olympia, London.
If you haven’t heard of the show, it is the go-to place for those involved with museums, archives and other cultural and heritage institutions. Exhibiting are an array of suppliers, offering products and services ranging from gift shop souvenirs to full technology management systems.
The best part about it is that for visitors, it is free to attend. Included in the entry is access to hundreds of suppliers, admission to over 50 free talks and masterclasses, and not to mention the fantastic networking opportunities.
For those thinking about whether to attend next year as a visitor or an exhibitor, we have listed our three favourite things about the show and why we will definitely be returning next year!
Talks and masterclasses
At the show, there were a huge number of talks and masterclasses available to attend, so you can listen to invaluable industry insight from experts, hear tips and tricks from other museums/heritage organisations and gain product knowledge from suppliers - all for free!
We at Capture hosted an ‘Introduction to Digital Asset Management (DAM)’ masterclass at the show. There was a fantastic turnout, and it was brilliant to share some of our knowledge and insight, to help others with their businesses.
Even as exhibitors, where we don't often leave our stand, we always go away feeling as though we have learned something valuable about the industry, and are up-to-date on the latest trends - just by talking to those around us.
There are so many different exhibitors at the show – you name it, they have it. Whilst we were there, we spotted suppliers providing digitisation scanners, souvenirs, virtual reality technology, collections management systems, gift shop products and not to mention ourselves who provide digital asset management solutions!
With hundreds of suppliers, it really is the one-stop-shop for anyone representing a museum or heritage organisation – no matter how big or small - to be able to service multiple different needs of their institution in a single event.

Over the two-day event, we spoke to hundreds of people – not only visitors interested in hearing about our product and services, but also chatting to those on neighbouring stands and visits from our existing clients.
It’s a great event to make new connections and relationships that you can take away and nurture, and meet people who you would have never otherwise encountered.
Additionally, it’s fair to say that almost everyone attending has a common goal and objective – to make the organisation they represent the best it can possibly be. Therefore, visitors are really open to learning about new products and services, meaning the quality of your new connections are unparalleled.
For us, the show is a great chance to meet visitors, catch up with familiar faces, and keep up to date about the industry. We recommend it to anyone within the sector, and be sure to drop by our stand next year!
